1. Does Max's Pet Connection have a shelter facility?
No, we do not have a shelter. All of our dogs are fostered in private homes through out central Florida.
2. Do I have to wait for an adoption event to see a particular dog?
No. If you see a particular dog on the internet you would like to meet,
you can either email us or call:
352-669-2855 or 734-679-0629 and arrangements for you to meet the dog will be made for you to meet the dog as soon as possible.
3. How much does it cost to adopt a dog?
Adoption fees vary depending on the dog's age, breed, and physical condition.
4. Why are there charges for adopting a dog?
The adoption donation fees rarely cover the costs of vetting and the other expenses associated
with caring for the animals. We rely on donations to help cover the costs from caring people to
cover the rest of the expenses. Remember, we are a 501(c)(3) approved non-profit
organization and any donations you make may be tax deductible. Check with the IRS to be certain.
5. What is the adoption process?
First, the applicant must fill out an adoption application for the particular dog he or she wishes to
adopt. It must be filled out completely as we cannot process incomplete applications. After we receive the application back we will review it and your references. If everything is satisfactory, we will at that time schedule a home visit and bring the dog to your home. This home visit is to ensure that it is a safe and appropriate environment. At that time, you will give the volunteer the adoption fee. Two copies of the actual adoption contract will be filled out and signed by you and the volunteer. You and the volunteer will each receive a copy of the contract. You will also receive a copy of the dogs medical record.
6. If I adopt a dog and find out later that I cannot keep the dog for one reason or another, can
I return the dog?
You have one week, (seven days), from the time you sign the contract and receive the dog that you
can return the dog and receive a refund minus fifty ($50.00) dollars. After seven days, you can still
return the dog but no refund will be given. In any circumstance, the dog must be returned to us and not given or sold to a third party.
7. How do I know if I am getting a healthy dog?
All dogs coming into our rescue, have a wellness examination by a veterinarian. They are given any required shots. If not already, they will be spayed/ neutered. They are heartworm tested and
treated if needed and put on a preventative maintenance schedule for heartworm and flea and tick.
